It was pleasing to see much fanfare about the SWR service to Corfe Castle on Summer Saturdays and promotion here which seems a good idea and a strong show of cooperation between SWR and the Swanage Railway
however I cannot seem to buy this £10 promo ticket online from Salisbury for any other date besides Saturday 9th June even though there are no apparent engineering works affecting the service I can see. Is there a way to improve the information & ticketing of this service and when it is likely to run this summer?
I will agree that it's a great promotion! I've been looking into this issue that you have mentioned. The reason that these services are not yet advertised is that we are waiting on National Rail to upload the rest of these services into their timetable. I've been told that this is a couple of days away from being done.
All in all this is a problem we are aware of, and there is a fix coming for later dates - I appreciate your patience with this.
Have to say this is a very awesome idea credit to you for doing it!
I would also like to use this new service but you cannot book to Corfe Castle from a machine. Are the free tickets valid to Corfe Castle too ? Why are there no leaflets at stations for this service ?
Book online to ensure availability I think they only have so much space so they are trying to ballance load and see if they have enough traffic to fill it longer term. Or a ticket office can assist you. Its not a national rail route so a ticket machine probably wont be able to sell it.
I did the the trip on Saturday. An excellent promotion. Just a shame that you still cannot buy a ticket to Corfe from a machine and that the attractive poster advertising the service is nowhere to be seen in London. Also a shame that the station toilets at Wareham are not kept open longer to cater for the crowds.
