Sorry if this has been asked before but I've heard that first class is due to be completely phased out on the Reading to Waterloo line, is this correct?
If it is are there going to be at least some seats with tables?
Hi Mike, the current stock of 707's doesn't have a 1st class area, they are being phased in now, but will be phased out. They are being replaced by the class 701. We don't have the design and set up of the 701's yet, I couldn't confirm whether there will be a 1st class area or not, I'm afraid. Back to the 707's and they are designed for a greater loading capacity and can carry more people, so tables won't be included. I would hope that there would be a press announcement in due course. Generally the stock that runs between London Waterloo and Reading currently (class 458 generally) does have a 1st class area and tables.
I hope this goes some way to answering your question.
Hi, I believe first class will be phased out of reading line services and the 701s due for delivery next year will be standard only. Hopefully they may have tables in the airline seats but I wouldn't hold your breath...
Thats what I thought. The only thing I'm really looking for is a seat and a table which is why have been paying for "first" class over the years, though in actuality that gives me a blue seat and if I'm lucky a table...
I have the same question, but also will the standard seats full sized, or the narrow seats that are on the 2+3 carriage trains? If the 701s are coming into service next year, someone already knows how they're being designed. How can we find out?
