For similar disputes Transport for Wales, Greater Anglia and now Northern https://www.rmt.org.uk/news/rmt-suspends-northern-strike-action/ have resolved their disputes or RMT have suspended industrial action. This does raise the question what ulterior motives are involved. Is SWR awaiting permission from DfT to make similar agreements? Is the DfT compensation for strike days "easy money" compared to running a train service? Does anyone in SWR management actually care?
Hi Romsey, due to the confidential talks that take place, we would be unaware or unable to share information on this matter.
That is actually positive!
Confidential talks without statements for the media are more likely to work. (There is less background comment to offend either party.)
There are also talks of more strikes over the design of the new class 701 cab.
Hopeful signs in SWR/RMT guards dispute
