After the last round of talks, in which it looks like one of the issues has been sorted I.e.. safety critical/ safety role of guard, but raised other questions.
SWR still want to run trains DOO under special circumstances where a guard is not available.
Surely SWR should have enough staff to cover illnesses and the malingerers that blight the service. If there are enough spare guards rostered and SWR and RMT monitor the numbers without prejudice to the genuine cases then there would be No need for a train to be run DOO.
Also, how would trains running DOO impact on Disabilities act, DDA . This method would appear to discriminate against the disabled, elderly and those needing assistance by taking away their choice of a walk up journey rather than having to be forced into a fixed agenda.
