I've asked this question before but it was never actioned so I'll ask it again. Could you please ensure that vinyls are affixed to all former 1st Class areas on 458s on the Hounslow loop services (the quiet carriages) to ensure consistency and provide this welcome relief on services on these trains.
Unfortunately that requires an element of the British public to
1) Read and comprehend ther notices and
2) respect the request.
The trouble is that applies to all services. The Hounslow Loop isn't too far, Waterloo Southampton is a trial of self control with some idiot thinking it's their right to shout into a mobile phone for the entire journey....
The problem is usually with the outward services from Waterloo.
inbound you tend to choose where you want to stand and thus which carriage you want to use. At W'loo, you might do that if early, but the majority of the time, communters are throwing themselves into any available carriage.
Something that would help a little is for SWR to read their own posters and actually close the doors 45 seconds prior to the listed departure time rather than leaving them open for the next 10 minutes whilst the denizens of Surbiton throw themselves at full carriages in defiance of the fact that they shouldn't even be trying to get onto the train (as it should have left).
