At Waterloo central exit where the bike racks are, the area is liberally plastered with no smoking signs. They are affixed to the walls and painted on the floor.
Not only do commuters and tourists ignore them, but your own staff join in with them.
What is the point of the signs? Surely company employees should be encouraging people to move off, and not to smoke in designated no smoking areas? It beggars belief that your own staff stand on the signs that they should be enforcing.
I don't particularly want to fight by way through smokers and inhale their smoke whilst I am trying to lock up my bike.
It happens at other stations as well. It is hard to understand when the signs clearly say that smoking is not allowed on SWR premises they smoke in the areas just outside, in some cases adjacent to the ticket machines and the lockable bicycle racks.
i can understand people ignoring the signs, some people are like that. it's the fact that the Staff seem to endorse it by joining in that gets my dander up.
6 staff smoking there today. 2 of them I see there all the time. Not sure when they get any work done!
Well no change. SWR any chance of you actually taking some action? Here are some photos of your staff from the last few months...
And today's exhibits, standing on the no smoking sign. lucky that signage isn't an important part of their jobs.... er....
And today's gathering at the cycle racks. I note that they all coped magnificently when it was raining for the last few days.
In the first pic, the middle chap is smoking.
Having been identified as the person on the right, firstly accusing me of smoking and having no evidence has caused me distress, and in doing so has led to feel violated by your unauthorised use of my cyber image. Having now sought legal advice and having explained my distress at your accusation, I formally ask you to withdraw my image and comments. To call me a miscreant and have no evidence is in itself an offence of slander.
If you persist in showing this image I will have other alternative that to seek further legal advice.
HI Gary, as you have requested, I have amended my post accordingly. I am quite happy to confirm that you were not smoking at the time the picture was taken. I have also withdrawn the word miscreant. I have edited the photo to preserve your anonymity as requested, although you have rather identified yourself. I didn't identify you at all.
Perhaps, instead of posting here, you could take the time to suggest to your colleagues that you all observe company rules and don't smoke in the no smoking zone? I'm sure that you all follow other signage in your job. The point of this post (which remains unanswered) is that the area is clearly marked as "No Smoking" yet staff members continue to ignore the signs.
You are of course aware that the bike racks are monitored by CCTV?
Perhaps you could help by lobbying management to provide a designated smoking area, or encourage your colleagues to engage with stop smoking programmes?
I have tried a non-public complaint, but it was ignored. I also tried posting without photos and that was ignored too. Hence the move to posting pictures. Apologies that you were included without evidence.
