We’re busy working on a number of improvements to your on board service, including new trains, existing fleet refurbishments and enhanced WiFi.
From December 2018, we will also be starting to launch a complimentary, bring-your-own-device (BYOD) entertainment service, on South Western Railway services from London to Weymouth, Poole, Portsmouth Harbour, Southampton Central and some outer suburban services (operated by the white Class 444 trains, blue Class 450 trains and newly refurbished 442 trains).
The new Class 701 trains will be fitted with the service when they start rolling out in 2019, and the West of England line fleets will also be fitted by mid 2020.
The BYOD entertainment service does not require an internet connection, so streaming is uninterrupted while you're on board, and if your show isn't finished when you leave the train in the evening, you can resume watching the next day.
We'd love to hear what content you would like to see as part of the service. Please complete the survey to let us know your thoughts and preferences. Once you've completed the survey, you are welcome to share any additional suggestions by adding a comment at the bottom of this page

Why don't you start running a decent service first?
Surely the first question should be whether you would use such a service. I have absolutely no interest in it at all - and would hope my journey is not upset by those who are using it.
I think people who want on board entertainment can download TV shows, films and podcasts to their own devices at home or at work. So this seems slightly superfluous.
I would rather this money was invested in providing a better more reliable service. eg more accurate information when there are delays.
I suppose it will be a welcome relief from having to listen the onboard announcements by Rita the Robot, and it will be a distraction from the bum-numbing discomfort of the new seats. If it works as well as the rest of SWT's service, I can imagine a journey on a train with this service will be a hell of people thumping screens to get them to work, trying to get a picture or sound and complaining to the unfortunate guard at every stop that it isn't working.
It can’t compete with Netflix, amazon, Sky, iPlayer, 4od etc. Utterly pointless and a waste of resource. Focus on the actual problems first please, no one has asked for this.
