When will New announcements be introduced on trains and on platforms? At the moment it's exactly the same as the SWT but modified to SWR.
Lots of nice new and swish electric trains......still same old stock on the WOE line and the referbs have just squashed more seats in less space reduced luggage (sensible move on a long distance line) We pay the same but seem second class citizens to our Poole Weymouth Line Desiro colleagues trains upgrades. I see from the recent leaflet they will even get at seat charging in 2nd class!! We are drowned in repetitive announcements.
Stock replacement is a progressive exercise and won't just stop with this initial (2020) phase of improvements. We are currently prioritising the busiest parts of our network, and the routes where capacity increase is sorely needed given rising passenger volumes during peak periods. These are Suburban routes and the Portsmouth line.
In respect of other parts of the network, beyond our immediate investment plan (see link here) we will of course review further into the franchise what other network improvement and investment is required.
In regards to announcements on board, this topic has already been covered at some length within another thread (which you have already commented upon within that thread). I will simply say here, that within what is permissible (the 'See It. say It, Sorted' campaign is DfT owned, nationwide and not something that can be unilaterally adjusted by a TOC (train operating company), positive changes are being made to reduce announcement frequency.
